What type of funds should I be investing in in my 401?

I have, a Amcent Equity income , Colombia acorn Z, Vanguard 500 index, Vanguard Small-Cap Index & Vanguard U.S. Growth. I consider myself an aggressive investor and don't believe in bonds-yet. I'm 52 and have substantial savings in my 401 already.

Good job, especially with the index fund. As you get older, you may want to go a bit more conservative with government bonds to protect what you've earned. But overall, good job.

For a young and aggresive investor, what is typically the right percentage to have in one's 401k…?

…between large, mid, small-cap, international, money market, etc…

First, see if your company offers a ROTH 401k. Since your taxable income may be lower that would be the best bet.

I'm pretty agressive, but have almost 50% in bonds/cash right now until the market settles. Once things get smoother I'll manage my contributions to bring me to about 40% large cap, 20% mid-small cap, 20% international, 20% bond/money market.

What are good allocation percentages for a young person's 401k?

I'm 23, and unsure of where to put my 401k money.

What percentages should I put into the various types of funds (i.e. Large-Cap Growth, Small-Cap Growth, Large-Cap Value, International funds, bonds, stable value, etc.)?

A co-worker who is a somewhat experienced investor suggets 50% Large-Cap Growth, 25% in the Vanguard 500, and 25% in stable value. That seems a bit conservative to me, considering my youth.

What asset allocation percentages would YOU suggest? And why?

25% in the stable value fund is ridiculous. anyone with that under 50 reallly does not understand investing at all. Large cap growth basically the same as Vanguard 500 (assuming that is S&P500) so duplication. 25% small cap. 25% International 25% Large cap value + 25% Vanguard 500. Still a bit too conservative but much better than his. He has no positive experience at all. Feel free to contact me with exact funds info you have if you want. You NEVER put municipals in a tax free acct(401)as they are already tax free & priced for that. Ignore that in above answer. Can't just make up numbers or copy them from some source.

What are the kind of stock a low / moderate risk investor or a low / moderator risk trader should look into?

Please advise on the large cap stocks, mid cap stocks and small penny / pink stocks nearing its 52 week low or showing some strong bounce on charts or some technical bounce backs. Also, comment on the new september series.

Being a low risk investor. Look for an FD.

Being a moderate risk investor you can buy large cap stocks which are bound to perform in 6 months to 2-years.

The above said are a simple concept which is generally followed by all.
